let her bodyhair grow. To her it is clear: This is very uneroc! “God did invent the underarmhair but he also invented the shaver for to eliminate them!”

did long time quarrel with her male look. Now she has accepted and let her beard grow since two years.  “The beard is a part of me. I do not want to adapt anymore. Women that fight her natural outlook are basically feeling unsecure”, she sais.

Day 670 Vienna Austria

This weekend I visited a friend in Vienna.

I have been to Vienna one year ago, and this time I visitied a lot of places the tourists do….for example the Museumsquartier and other exhibitions and museums as the Pratermuseum. In the museum of the prater was a picture of Julia Pastrana and one of Annie Jones. Both had been exhibited in the Prater. Annie Jones came here in 1900 with Barnum und Baileys, when they were touring Europe. And Julia Pastrana was already dead and stuffed when being shown!!

This weekend the weather was finlly fine and sunny….I visited the place where they have the best icecream of Vienna at Schwedenplatz and together with my friend Siran we made long walks in the park. The woman she shares the flat with is from Tibet and she was cooking for us some typical meals from Tibet. Yesterday she made some kind of nudles, or in German they are called Maultaschen, and in Tibet they call them Momo. “MOMO”. It is interesting, how many countries have similar food and each claims to be the inventor of this meal…as Ravioli, Maultaschen or Momo are all quite similar….
We visited the Hundertwasserhaus and the Jesuitenpark and I liked both a lot. The park is a great place to be with kids, as there are a lot of interesting playgrounds, some are good for the grown ups too.Tomorrow I have to go back to germany again, but I hope to come back soon, as I really like Vienna. How about reactions there? I had the impression that one year later now, after having been quite often in TV the people got also used to a woman with beard in Vienna. The reactions were less than before. Some Teenies talked after passing me that they wonder if this was a man or a woman….a turkish man asked me if the beard is real or fake and couldn´t believe that I don´t want to shave as the turkish women do….and he hit his hand in a gesture against his forehead to show how crazy he thinks this is…..

Strange things in Vienna Austria

This sign I saw in a park in Vienna. It says if you feed the pidgeons you feed the rats.
This sign someone changed ….On the third picture you see a machine that sells comics …. and this machine is in the museum of the prater, it is a marriagemachine, giving out the description of the perfect partner…

Day 320 Dresden BRN Colourfull Republik Newtown Dresden

dresden Samstag20. juni 2009 BRN

When I arrived in Dresden I got a message from Siran, that she got the room. I was happy for her. If we hadn´t  met in the train and she hadn´t invited me…who knows….I stayed three days with her and we both liked it a lot.

dresden Its a sunny day in Dresden today and it is  BRN – Bunte Republik Neustadt which means colorfull Republic of newtown.

It has started yesterday, but I was too tired to got there.

dresden The afternoon and the early eveninghours I did spent there on the party together with a friend of mine. I enjoyed it. So many people, music, fleamarket and more, on some spots the music was too loud and I had to put my hands on my ears….

dresden Samstag20. juni 2009 During the eveninghours more and more people came and I preferred to go home and babysit the child of my friend so that she was able to go out.

Day 318 Vienna back to Dresden

WienBy train I went from Vienna back to Germany. Passing Czech Republic. It took 7 hours, but the train was delayed and it took 8 hours. I was sooo tired. Wanted to sleep and found a compartment just for myself. I closed the curtains and layed down.  Minimum seven times I got disturbed! Five times the control from the train entered to see my ticket, austrian, czech and german controllers!  Then the police came two times to see the papers.

Dresden BrunnenThe last control between Czech Republic and Germany was kind of a comedy! Two Czechs wanted to see my passport. One of them was studying my passport. His eyes went back and forth from the passport to my face and back again., Then he took the passport and streched out his hand to compare my face with the foto in the passport. He was comparing for a while and came to no result until his collegue murmured something like woman. Then he released his arm and returned the passport to me.

Kräutergarten Societätstheater DresdenBack in Dresden I went shopping. The people appeared more friendly to me than some days ago. Two men on the street said: Did you see this – the woman has a beard! Cool! – And I smiled.

In the evening there was a concert in Societätstheater from Annamateur, wher I went. This time Stephan Braun was playing the Cello and Reentko Dirks the guitarre.  I liked it a lot and enjoyed the concert. Many songs were arranged differently than on the last concert and the words between the numbers were different too.

The seats in the Societätstheater are not really comfortable. Sitting stiff and too close to one another. Would be good to improve this. The sound was perfect. On the ground of the theater outside they have a pritty garden with smelling plants like lavender thyme and peppermint and others and I enjoyed that during the break.

Here is a video from a concert, 44 minutes of Annamateur. Her voice is amazing and the musicians are great too!

Day 317 last day in Vienna

Foto565Around noon I went to see another room to rent. It was very nice, but I did not want to rent for such a long time. In the afternoon I met Siran and told her about it, and she is looking for something on a long term. She immediately made an appointment with the woman from the room for the next day. I hope she will get it. The woman who rents the room is very nice. Anyway I met a lot of nice people in Vienna.

Ausstellung WienAn Exhibition with the title: “barbiefree zone – Barbiefreie Zone” has been opened on tuesday in the Palais Dietrichstein in Vienna, its about sexism and gender and behaviour between gender.

It was a pitty that it was already closed for the evening and I will leave tomorrow. The organization is called Amazone and they are still looking for other opportunities to bring this exhibition to other places. Would be good to bring it to Berlin I thought…

Today was my last day in Vienna and Siran and I went throu town and did a test of icecream. Zanoni and the Eissalon at Schwedenplatz. Both are to be recommended! The last one even has biological icecream and is next to the subway U Bahn Schwedenplatz. They have such a large offer of different sorts of icecream that it takes days to test them all! Some even change every day. The internet adress is: www.gelato.at

We went down to the water and sat down on a beachbar, where we spend the rest of the evening in an armchair. It was wonderful. Relaxing. The bridges on the left and right were illuminated in the colors red and blud.

Day 315 Monday in Vienna

Baustelle The night was short. We went to bed very late and in the morning hours the noise started in front of the window. This was around 6. At eight they started to open the street with a drill which made it impossible to go on sleeping!

I had another expectation of Vienna. Thought it would me more quite and calm. When I visited Vienna 30 years ago it was totally different and I was different too. Thirty years are a long time and during this period most of the towns have become more noisy.

Blaugesprayt in WienSiran had to go to work and I said good bye and went to my friends place where I had spent the first days in Vienna.

Malerarbeiten am Vormittag in WienThis is where I am writing now on my laptop and anothter drill is making noise! In the appartment next door they are working with drills. – Is there any message in this outside noise? Does it want to tell me something? Or is it just by accident? Shall I leave? I do not understand and I decide: it is noisy thats it! And it has no meaning as long as I do not give a meaning to it!

Briefkasten WienThe weather is hot and damp and strange….and in the afternoon I want to meet my nice who lives in Vienna, but as she did not answer the phone I decide to meet her another day.

Postwagen

Postbox, little postwagon…Billa the supermarket all in yelllow…

Billa Supermarkt WienIn the afternoon I went to Mariahilferstreet for shopping.

The air outside was thick hot and smelling of exhaust fumes. I understood why I was so tired the last days. When I went out to go shopping, a man passed me running to stand a bit further from me to see WHAT I am! As I stopped he stopped too and went back again from where he came. Interesting these manoevers….

This is a video clip from: Three Ring Circus, with Jerry Lewis who wants to shave a bearded lady… the language of the clip is portugues!

Augarten After having cooked something I went out again. This time I just went into the direction of the Donau and passed a beautiful parc called Augarten. The air was fresher and cooler, then some streets away. It was good to sit on the bench under the allee of limetrees. The flowers of the limetree filled the air with a beautiful smell, similar to jasmine. The way they had planted the trees in this parc was a bit like in the armee…standing straight in lines. But even so it is a place for relaxation, after having passed so many houses and no nature.

While I was sitting on the bench, I  felt now more grounded and here. It took one week to really arrive in Vienna. My interest to see more of the town is now rising. And still at the same time I feel overwhelmed from all the people and the noise in this town. Perhaps it is not anymore the time for me to live in a town? Perhaps the older I get, the more I need the nature? And somehow I need both. On the way back I passed the Galerie bast-art in the Josefstädter Street 33 where an artist called  Philipp Jordan had a little exhibition. Titel of the exhibition was: Knock on Wood, and will be still on until june 27th. He makes drawings, paints dogs and other animals in a comicstyle on wood and wooden barrels. And I like it.

This is a video about his project 1000 teddies:

This is a link to see the opening of the exhibition and you can see the pictures too….Nr 8 ist the one with the pictures of the exhibition.
